N.E.S.T. Travel

N.E.S.T. (Navigation for Exploration, Stays & Transit)

BCIS Senior Capstone Project | University of North Texas

Co-developed in a 4-person Agile team as an all-in-one digital travel coordination hub.

Modern travel planning suffers from severe "app fatigue"—forcing users to juggle dozens of browser tabs and disconnected apps for flights, lodging, transit, and local activities. As the Lead UX Designer, my objective was to eliminate this friction by designing an accessible, intuitive single-dashboard experience that consolidates the entire travel pipeline.

  • Accessibility-First Design Principles: Drawing on my background with Apple retail and human-centered design principles, I will wireframe low-, mid-, and high-fidelity web prototypes focused on clean navigation, clear typography, and accessible UI controls.

  • Interactive Prototyping in Figma: Built dynamic component libraries, customizable budget filters, and trip-style selectors (solo, family, group) to ensure seamless user flows from destination discovery to final itinerary generation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnered closely with our team's backend developer and scribe to map user flows directly to database structures (ERDs/DFDs), ensuring the visual design aligned perfectly with system architecture.

Our Goals in User Experience

Our Vision

Travel planning should inspire excitement, not exhaustion. Modern travelers are routinely overwhelmed by "app fatigue"—forced to navigate a chaotic maze of disconnected tabs and apps just to book flights, coordinate lodging, figure out local transit routes, and secure activity passes.

Our vision for N.E.S.T. is to explore how thoughtful UI/UX can shatter that friction by uniting the entire travel journey into one seamless, accessible, and intuitive digital concept. By combining customizable budget controls, personalized trip filters, and end-to-end travel coordination under a single unified dashboard, N.E.S.T. aims to demonstrate how travel planning can become effortless and enjoyable.

Project Context & Status:

N.E.S.T. is a simulated business concept created exclusively as a Senior Capstone Project for BCIS 4720 at the University of North Texas. It is strictly an academic exercise and is not operating or launching as a commercial company. As the Lead UX Designer on a 4-person student team, I am currently kicking off the UX discovery phase, translating our hypothetical business rules and system processes into user flows, low-fidelity wireframes, and initial Figma design components.
